This is a question I see many times. Often they come from people who don’t know anything about the world of Sadomasochism. It is a shortening for Female Dominance, and of course, this means that the female is in control in a BDSM play. It doesn’t necessarily have to consist of a female and a male submissive, it is also called Femdom if the submissive is a female and the dominant a female. However, this site will only feature female over male dominance.

The female dominant is often called a “domme”, a “dominatrix”, a “domina”, a “femdomme” or a “dom”. The most common word however, is “Mistress”. You find some of it, but there’s not much, especially not of female over male dominance.
